Crushes and Cages

I wish it didn't matter
I wish it wasn't there
I've got a little secret
That I'm terrified to share

I have a little crush
On someone not my age
It's really not my fault
This body is my cage

My mind strives for more
For one who really knows
About the highs in life
As well as all the lows

I wish for no gap
Between years of our birth
Then I'd be considered
As someone of some worth

Maybe then she'd want
Something more with me
And maybe then
I wouldn't have this little plea
